I'm giving it back

There's a song that's inside of my soul
(who is it for?)
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
(can't see the words by candlelight)
I'm awake in the infinite cold
(air rushes to fill this new space)
But you sing to me over and over and over again
(if only I would hear you)

So I lay my head back down
(surrender)
And I lift my hands and pray
(desperate)
To be only yours I pray
(take me back again)
To be only yours
(Only)
I know now you’re my only hope
(too late)

Sing to me the song of the stars
(they can't feel the pain)
Of your galaxies dancing and laughing and laughing again
(shine on in oblivion)
When it feels like my dreams are so far
(I saw it differently)
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again
(mine are burning in this flame)

So I lay my head back down
(I'm sorry)
And I lift my hands and pray
(here I am again)
To be only yours I pray
(don't let me wander this time)
To be only yours
(belonging)
I know now you're my only hope
(If you can love me still)

I give you my destiny
(take and seal it)
I'm giving you all of me
(goodbye, misconstrued identity)
I want your symphony
(overwhelming beauty)
Singing in all that I am
(a reflection)
At the top of my lungs
(strangled by tears)
I'm giving it back
(the heart I lost)

So I lay my head back down
(I ruined it)
And I lift my hand and pray
(Weeping)
To be only yours I pray
(no other purpose)
To be only yours I pray
(only)
To be only yours
(only)
I know now you're my only hope
(it is You)

Hummmmm hummmmm Ooohhh
(sleep now)

Only Hope

This was supposed to be written as a prayer, btw. lol, it's one of those ambiguous songs where you don't know if it's a love song or they're talking to God.

yes, i know, it's an awesome song. Anna and Sam, have you heard the Mandy Moore version? the only accompioment is a piano and violin, and it's way nicer then the swichfoot version. *hint, hint*

I was all excited to tell you about it on Chat before it died the other day Verya, I knew it was your kind of song. Yes, I'm obsessed with it now. *grin*

yeah, the switchfoot version is a bit.....umm-guy-singing-high-that's-real-special-ish. :p no I haven't heard mandy moore version.

the guy is so not singing high, I can hit an octive above for almost the whole song and I'm an alto!

psht. yeah, it's one of those songs, but i think jonathan knew exactly what he was doing, don't you think it almost changes halfway through?
mandy moore's version is not half bad. i'm not too big of a fan of the song, just mostly the lyrics.

Okay so you know I got a gmail account the other day, but mainly for the chat feature.

However,
Do you have to have a gmail account to be able to chat?

Oh, and if you add someone to your friends list, does that mean they immediately are your friend and you can chat with them?

I'll have to listen online and buy it if I like it...which I think I will.

I'm almost positive you need a gmail account to chat, but I don't know about your other question. someone else will know.
